Emergency Procedures


Hours of Operation

* BT is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
* Children may be dropped off anytime before 9:30 a.m. and picked up after 5:00 p.m. If you will be later than 9:30 a.m. or earlier than 5:00 p.m. please let us know, either by calling or, if you know in advance, writing it on the board.
* Parents must arrive at the center by 5:45 p.m.
* If you would like to relax for a few minutes with your child, or talk to a teacher, please come early enough to fit it in.

Staff/Child Ratio:

At Basic Trust there are

* 3 full-time care givers for 8-9 babies
* 3 full-time care givers for 10-11 toddlers
* and 4 full-time teachers for 18 big kids.

In addition, interns are used from Bank Street and YALA program.The director is on site on a full-time basis.

Nutrition

* Basic Trust has a full time cook who prepares a midday meal plus two snacks. These meals provide high quality nutrition.
* Whenever possible, BT will meet special dietary needs.
* Please do not bring candy, gum or nuts to Basic Trust

Days Per Week Available:

* Families can choose to send their child to BT from three to five days a week.
* When Basic Trust is closed for a holiday, staff or teacher workday, or if your child is sick on his/her regularly scheduled day, Basic Trust will not be able to make up that day.
* Any personal vacations or family time when your child is not at Basic Trust cannot be made up.

Items Provided by Parents

Parents will provide the following items:

1. Disposable or cloth diapers.
* We use approximately 6 diapers per day.
* These must be replaced on a regular basis
2. Two complete changes of clothing, including socks and some kind of footwear.
3. A blanket of appropriate weight for the season and adequate size for nap time.
* Please launder this blanket regularly.
4. Any special toy or "lovey" that your child might want for comfort.

Emergency Procedures

In case of emergency, the Center will follow the procedures below:

1. Call the parents.
2. Call the doctor listed with BT.
3. Call the emergency person listed with BT.
4. Take the child to the emergency room at Mt.Sinai Hospital (212) 241-7151

If you have special emergency instructions, please submit them in writing to the director.
